Lindsey Sanford

Lindsey was a horse crazy kid in a non-horsey family. She read everything about horses that she could get her hands on in her school and city library. Lindsey grew up surrounded by cats, dogs, and a few lambs and ducks. She spent much of her younger years playing with, learning about training, and loving animals.

While Lindsey's family wasn't involved in horses, she and they were very active in many athletic activities - swimming, running, biking, volleyball, basketball, hiking, skiing, dance, and soccer to name a few.

Lindsey's riding career started when she reached her teen years and she began working at some local barns so she could learn more and be around horses. While in college, Lindsey worked with a dressage trainer who was dedicated to helping her become a feeling, balanced, all around good rider. From there Lindsey spent a couple of years learning hunter jumper before switching to primarily riding dressage in 1999 and began slowly building a dressage based teaching and training business.

Over the years, Lindsey has worked with a variety of horse trainers in multiple styles of riding including Western pleasure, trail, hunt seat, Centered Riding, and dressage. This broad base of horse handling education, and her extensive experience in sport and sport cross training, combined with a curiosity about psychology, training theory, learning theory, and her early years teaching swim lessons with a child centered program has resulted in a unique focus on horse and student development.

Lindsey balances her dedication to helping horses to be as athletic, mentally, and emotionally fulfilled as possible with a similar desire for all of her students. She does this by teaching her students how to read and interact with horse behavior, how to use rider biomechanics to smoothly and easily direct their horses, and to do everything with the horse's perspective and needs coming first.

Lindsey's philosophy is that with excellent partnership, and an understanding of and ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with our horses, we can accomplish all of our riding goals.
